2. Kúi-châi Don Quixote ê thâu-pái lī-ka chhut-cheng

2.1 Hut-jiân siūⁿ-tio̍h, i iáu bô khî-sū ê miâ-hō

Chún-pī chiâu-chn̂g liáu-āu, i kip-kip boeh chip-hêng kè-ōe, in-ūi jīm-hô iân-chhiân, lóng sī sè-kài ê sún-sit. I boeh kiù-chèng chhò-gō͘, kiù-chè oan-khut, siau-tî put-gī, táⁿ-kek ok-hêng, bián-tî chè-bū. Só͘-tì, bô-kóng bô-tàⁿ, mā bô lâng khòaⁿ-tio̍h, tī thiⁿ bōe kng ê thàu-chá, he sī chhit-goe̍h siōng joa̍h ê bó͘ chi̍t-kang, i chhēng chiàn-kah, tì siu-pó͘ hó ê thâu-khoe, khiâ-chiūⁿ Rocinante, tēⁿ-ân phôe-tún, chhiú gia̍h tn̂g-chhiuⁿ, ùi chhù-tiāⁿ āu-bóe mn̂g chhut-hoat, kiâⁿ kàu iá-gōa; khòaⁿ tio̍h ka-tī ê úi-tāi bo̍k-piau í-keng khai-sí, hō͘ i boán-chiok koh hoaⁿ-hí, sim-hoe tōa khui.

M̄-koh, chi̍t-ē kàu khui-khoah ê pêⁿ-iûⁿ, i tō siūⁿ-tio̍h chi̍t-ê khó-phà ê liām-thâu, che m̄-sī sió-khóa tāi, ū-kàu hō͘ i hòng-khì tú boeh khai-sí ê sū-gia̍p. I hut-jiân siūⁿ-tio̍h, i iáu bô tit-tio̍h khî-sū ê miâ-hō. Chiàu khî-sū-tō ê kui-kí, i bē-sái, mā bô eng-kai kō͘ bú-khì kap jīm-hô khî-sū chiàn-tàu. Chún-kóng í-keng ū khî-sū miâ-hō, chi̍t-ê sin khî-sū mā kan-ta ē-tàng chhēng pe̍h-sek chiàn-kah, tún-pâi téng-bīn bē-sái ū piau-chì, he ài khò ka-tī ê lêng-le̍k tit-tio̍h. 

Siūⁿ-tio̍h chiah-ê, i sió-khóa tiû-tû chi̍t-ē, m̄-koh siáu-kông chiàn-iâⁿ lí-tì, i koat-tēng boeh chhiūⁿ sió-soat lāi-bīn khòaⁿ tio̍h ê chē-chē lâng án-ne, chhiáⁿ tú-tio̍h ê tē-it ê lâng hong i chò khî-sū. Á pe̍h-sek thâu-khoe neh, i koat-sim ū ki-hōe tō kā thâu-khoe sé kah pí tiau-phôe koh-khah pe̍h. Án-ne chi̍t-ē siūⁿ, i hòng-sim loh, kè-sio̍k kóaⁿ-lō͘, chhut-chāi hit-chiah bé ka-tī kéng-lō͘ kiâⁿ, in-ūi i siong-sìn, án-ne chiah-sī lāng-hiám ê pún-chit.

Chiū án-ne, lán chit-ê chhài-chiáu lāng-hiám-ka ná kiâⁿ ná tùi ka-tī án-ne kóng: 

"Siáng ē chai, chiong-lâi góa chhut-miâ sū-chek ê chin-si̍t le̍k-sú kong-khai ê sî, siá chheh ê gâu-lâng boeh thê-khí góa tī thàu-chá chho͘-chhù chhut-cheng, tiāⁿ-tio̍h sī án-ne siá: ‘Kim-âng-sek Apollo tú tī khòng-khoah tē-bīn pho͘ hó kim-sek thâu-chang, chhái-sek sió-chiáu tú tiâu-chéng hó koa-âu, kō͘ hó-thiaⁿ ê hô-siaⁿ gêng-chiap mûi-kùi-sek Lê-bêng lâi-lîm, yi tú lī-khui chhò͘-tháng ang-sài ê nńg-chhn̂g, ùi La Mancha tē-pêng-sòaⁿ chhut-hiān tī sè-jîn ê tōa-mn̂g chêng, lō͘-tâi téng. Chit-sî, La Mancha ê chhut-miâ khî-sū Don Quixote lī-khui un-loán phòng-chhn̂g, khiâ-chiūⁿ chhut-miâ ê chùn-bé Rocinante, khai-sí kiâⁿ-kòe kó͘-ló koh chhut-miâ ê Montiel Khòng-iá;’" sū-si̍t, i chin-chiàⁿ tng-teh tī hia kiâⁿ.

"Hēng-hok nî-tāi, hēng-hok sî-khek," i kè-sio̍k án-ne kóng, "góa ê chhut-miâ kong-tek boeh tit-tio̍h kì-chài, boeh chù tī chheⁿn-tâng-khì, khek tī tāi-lí-chio̍h, ōe tī ang-á-tô͘, éng-óan chò kì-liām. Á lí neh, O gâu-lâng mô͘-hoat-su, m̄-koán lí sī siáng, chit-pō͘ kî-miāu le̍k-sú iû lí kì. Góa kiû lí, m̄-thang bē-kì-tit góa siān-liông ê Rocinante, i sī góa phiau-lōng lō͘-tô͘ ê hó phōaⁿ-lū." 

Chek-sî, i koh hoah-siaⁿ, bē-su hō͘ ài-chêng tiān tio̍h: 

"O Dulcinea Kong-chú, lia̍h góa sim-koaⁿ ê lú-sū, lí tùi góa chò tōa m̄-tio̍h, lí kóaⁿ góa cháu, khòaⁿ góa khin, léng-khok kóaⁿ góa lī-khui lí bí-lē ê bīn-chêng. O hu-jîn, chhiáⁿ ē-kì-tit chit-lia̍p sim, lí ê chú-bîn, in-ūi ài lí, teh thòng-khó͘ siuⁿ-si."

Chiū án-ne, i kè-sio̍k kóng kui-kōaⁿ kok-chióng ê 5-4-3, chiâu sī o̍h chū chheh-lāi ê hong-keh, chīn-liōng bô͘-hóng in ê bûn-kù. I khiâ-bé ná bān-bān kiâⁿ, m̄-koh ji̍t-thâu peh chin kín, chi̍t-ē tō joa̍h kah boeh kā thâu-náu iûⁿ-khì (siat-sú i ū thâu-náu). Án-ne kiâⁿ boeh kui-ji̍t, i lóng bô tú-tio̍h siáⁿ ta̍t-tit chù-ì ê tāi-chì, hō͘ i kài sit-bōng, in-ūi i kip boeh kín tú-tio̍h tùi-chhiú, thang-hó chhì-giām i bú-kong ê lī-hāi.

2.1 忽然想著, 伊猶無騎士 ê 名號

準備 chiâu-chn̂g了後, 伊急急欲執行計畫, 因為任何延 chhiân, lóng 是世界 ê 損失. 伊欲糾正錯誤, 救濟冤屈, 消除不義, 打擊惡行, 免除債務. 所致, 無講無呾, mā 無人看著, tī 天未光 ê 透早, he 是七月上熱 ê 某一工, 伊穿戰甲, 戴修補好 ê 頭盔, 騎上 Rocinante, 捏絚皮盾, 手攑長槍, ùi 厝埕後尾門出發, 行到野外; 看著 ka-tī ê 偉大目標已經開始, hō͘ 伊滿足 koh 歡喜, 心花大開.

M̄-koh, 一下到開闊 ê 平陽, 伊 tō 想著一个可怕 ê 念頭, che 毋是小可代, 有夠 hō͘ 伊放棄 tú 欲開始 ê 事業. 伊忽然想著, 伊猶無得著騎士 ê 名號. 照騎士道 ê 規矩, 伊 bē-sái, mā 無應該 kō͘ 武器 kap 任何騎士戰鬥. 準講已經有騎士名號, 一个新騎士 mā kan-ta ē-tàng 穿白色戰甲, 盾牌頂面袂使有標誌, he 愛靠 ka-tī ê 能力得著. 

想著 chiah-ê, 伊小可躊躇一下, m̄-koh 痟狂戰贏理智, 伊決定欲像小說內面看著 ê 濟濟人 án-ne, 請拄著 ê 第一个人封伊做騎士. Á 白色頭盔 neh, 伊決心有機會 tō kā 頭盔洗 kah 比貂皮 koh-khah 白. Án-ne 一下想, 伊放心 loh, 繼續趕路, 出在 hit 隻馬 ka-tī 揀路行, 因為伊相信, án-ne 才是弄險 ê 本質.

就 án-ne, 咱這个菜鳥弄險家 ná 行 ná 對ka-tī án-ne 講: 

"Siáng ē 知, 將來我出名事蹟 ê 真實歷史公開 ê 時, 寫冊 ê gâu 人欲提起我 tī 透早初次出征, 定著是 án-ne 寫: ‘金紅色 Apollo tú tī 曠闊地面鋪好金色頭鬃, 彩色小鳥 tú 調整好歌喉, kō͘ 好聽 ê 和聲迎接玫瑰色黎明來臨, 她 tú 離開醋桶翁婿 ê 軟床, ùi La Mancha 地平線出現 tī 世人 ê 大門前, 露台頂. 這時, La Mancha ê 出名騎士 Don Quixote 離開溫暖膨床, 騎上出名 ê 駿馬 Rocinante, 開始行過古老 koh 出名 ê Montiel 曠野;’" 事實, 伊真正 tng-teh tī hia 行.

"幸福年代, 幸福時刻," 伊繼續 án-ne 講, "我 ê 出名功德欲得著記載, 欲鑄 tī 青銅器, 刻 tī 大理石, 畫 tī 尪仔圖, 永遠做紀念. Á 你 neh, O gâu 人魔法師, 毋管你是 siáng, 這部奇妙歷史由你記. 我求你, 毋通袂記得我善良 ê Rocinante, 伊是我漂浪路途 ê 好伴侶." 

即時, 伊 koh 喝聲, 袂輸 hō͘ 愛情電著: 

"O Dulcinea 公主, 掠我心肝 ê 女士, 你對我做大毋著, 你趕我走, 看我輕, 冷酷趕我離開你美麗 ê 面前. O 夫人, 請會記得這粒心, 你 ê 子民, 因為愛你, teh 痛苦相思."

就 án-ne, 伊繼續講規綰各種 ê 5-4-3, chiâu 是學自冊內 ê 風格, 盡量模仿 in ê 文句. 伊騎馬 ná 慢慢行, m̄-koh 日頭 peh 真緊, 一下 tō joa̍h kah 欲 kā 頭腦熔去 (設使伊有頭腦). Án-ne 行欲規日, 伊 lóng 無拄著啥值得注意 ê 代誌, hō͘ 伊 kài 失望, 因為伊急欲緊拄著對手, thang-hó 試驗伊武功 ê 厲害.

CHAPTER II.

WHICH TREATS OF THE FIRST SALLY THE INGENIOUS DON QUIXOTE MADE FROM HOME

2.1

These preliminaries settled, he did not care to put off any longer the execution of his design, urged on to it by the thought of all the world was losing by his delay, seeing what wrongs he intended to right, grievances to redress, injustices to repair, abuses to remove, and duties to discharge. So, without giving notice of his intention to anyone, and without anybody seeing him, one morning before the dawning of the day (which was one of the hottest of the month of July) he donned his suit of armour, mounted Rocinante with his patched-up helmet on, braced his buckler, took his lance, and by the back door of the yard sallied forth upon the plain in the highest contentment and satisfaction at seeing with what ease he had made a beginning with his grand purpose. /

But scarcely did he find himself upon the open plain, when a terrible thought struck him, one all but enough to make him abandon the enterprise at the very outset. It occurred to him that he had not been dubbed a knight, and that according to the law of chivalry he neither could nor ought to bear arms against any knight; and that even if he had been, still he ought, as a novice knight, to wear white armour, without a device upon the shield until by his prowess he had earned one. /

These reflections made him waver in his purpose, but his craze being stronger than any reasoning, he made up his mind to have himself dubbed a knight by the first one he came across, following the example of others in the same case, as he had read in the books that brought him to this pass. As for white armour, he resolved, on the first opportunity, to scour his until it was whiter than an ermine; and so comforting himself he pursued his way, taking that which his horse chose, for in this he believed lay the essence of adventures.

Thus setting out, our new-fledged adventurer paced along, talking to himself and saying, /

“Who knows but that in time to come, when the veracious history of my famous deeds is made known, the sage who writes it, when he has to set forth my first sally in the early morning, will do it after this fashion? ‘Scarce had the rubicund Apollo spread o’er the face of the broad spacious earth the golden threads of his bright hair, scarce had the little birds of painted plumage attuned their notes to hail with dulcet and mellifluous harmony the coming of the rosy Dawn, that, deserting the soft couch of her jealous spouse, was appearing to mortals at the gates and balconies of the Manchegan horizon, when the renowned knight Don Quixote of La Mancha, quitting the lazy down, mounted his celebrated steed Rocinante and began to traverse the ancient and famous Campo de Montiel;’” which in fact he was actually traversing. /

“Happy the age, happy the time,” he continued, “in which shall be made known my deeds of fame, worthy to be moulded in brass, carved in marble, limned in pictures, for a memorial for ever. And thou, O sage magician, whoever thou art, to whom it shall fall to be the chronicler of this wondrous history, forget not, I entreat thee, my good Rocinante, the constant companion of my ways and wanderings.” /

Presently he broke out again, as if he were love-stricken in earnest, /

“O Princess Dulcinea, lady of this captive heart, a grievous wrong hast thou done me to drive me forth with scorn, and with inexorable obduracy banish me from the presence of thy beauty. O lady, deign to hold in remembrance this heart, thy vassal, that thus in anguish pines for love of thee.”

So he went on stringing together these and other absurdities, all in the style of those his books had taught him, imitating their language as well as he could; and all the while he rode so slowly and the sun mounted so rapidly and with such fervour that it was enough to melt his brains if he had any. Nearly all day he travelled without anything remarkable happening to him, at which he was in despair, for he was anxious to encounter someone at once upon whom to try the might of his strong arm.
